Privacy policy

Who we are

Prelude is a product of Orrin Broberg LLC, a Minnesota company based in Minneapolis. When this policy says "Prelude," "we" or "us," it means Orrin Broberg LLC. You can reach us at orrin@prelude2sales.ai. A real person reads that inbox.

This policy covers the Prelude website at prelude2sales.ai and the Prelude application. It applies to three kinds of people: visitors to the website, people who use Prelude at work (hiring leaders, their colleagues and consultants), and candidates who are invited to a Prelude interview.

The short version

Prelude collects what it needs to run a hiring interview and nothing more. We don't sell personal information, we don't run ads, and we don't use your data to build profiles of you for anyone else. Candidate interviews are read only against the hiring profile the employer built, never against age, sex, race or any other protected characteristic. Every hiring decision is made by a person, not by Prelude.

If you're a candidate

You're here because an employer invited you to a Prelude interview for a role they're hiring for. The employer decides to use Prelude, decides what the role requires, and makes every decision about your application. Prelude runs the interview on the employer's behalf and reports what you said back to them. In privacy law terms, the employer is the controller of your information and Prelude is a processor acting on their instructions.

What we collect: your name and email address (from the employer or from you), a resume if you or the employer provide one, the written transcript of your interview, and the assessment Prelude writes from the transcript for the employer. If you speak your answers, your own browser turns your speech into text before anything reaches Prelude. Prelude never receives or stores audio. If you type your answers, we collect the text.

What we do with it: Prelude reads the text of your answers against the hiring profile the employer built. It produces a written assessment that quotes your own words as evidence. The employer sees the transcript, the assessment, and any comparison between your resume and what you said in the interview. Prelude never hears your voice. It does not receive audio, does not create a voiceprint, and does not analyze your tone, accent or manner of speaking. Only the words you say are read.

What we never do: Prelude never reasons from age, sex, gender, race, ethnicity, national origin, accent, religion, disability, health, pregnancy, family status, marital status or sexual orientation, and never from anything that stands in for those. If you mention any of these in an interview, Prelude is built to set it aside. Prelude does not make or recommend hiring decisions. It informs a person who does.

Your choices: you can ask the employer to let you type instead of speak, and the interview supports it. You can ask the employer for a copy of your transcript, ask them to correct it, or ask them to delete your information, and we'll help them do it. If you'd rather contact us directly, email orrin@prelude2sales.ai and we'll pass the request to the employer and act on their instruction.

If you use Prelude at work

What we collect: your name, work email and password; the roles you create; the transcript of the leader interview you give about each role; the hiring profile Prelude builds from it; and the candidates you invite, along with everything described above under candidates. We also keep routine records of how the application is used: when you signed in, what you created, what you exported.

What we do with it: we run the product. Your leader interview becomes a hiring profile, the profile shapes every candidate interview for that role, and the results are shown to you and to the colleagues you've given access. We may look at usage records to fix problems and to understand which parts of Prelude are working. We don't use your data to build anything for another customer, and we don't share your roles, profiles or candidates with anyone outside your organization.

You are responsible for telling candidates that the interview is run by an AI tool and that it's recorded, and for getting whatever consent your jurisdiction requires before you invite them. Prelude's interview opens with a plain notice and asks the candidate to confirm before it begins, and we'll give you the wording so you can use it in your own notices too.

If you visit the website

The website is a set of plain pages. If you fill in the contact form, we collect the email address you give us and anything you write, and we use it to reply. The form is run by Mailchimp, which stores the address on our behalf. Mailchimp also sends the invitation emails Prelude users send to candidates. We don't run advertising trackers. We may use basic analytics that count visits to a page; if we do, they're configured not to identify you.

The AI behind Prelude

Prelude's interviews and assessments are produced with large language models supplied by Anthropic through its commercial API. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, Anthropic does not use data sent through the API to train its models. If you speak your answers instead of typing them, the speech-to-text built into your web browser converts your voice to text before anything reaches Prelude. That conversion is done by the maker of your browser (Google for Chrome, Microsoft for Edge, Apple for Safari) under that company's own privacy terms, and your browser asks your permission before it uses your microphone. You can type instead at any time. Prelude is hosted on Microsoft Azure in the central United States. Three companies outside Prelude handle data on our behalf: Anthropic, which reads interview text to run interviews and write assessments; Mailchimp, which sends emails; and Microsoft, which hosts the service. Each processes data only on our instructions.

We don't train models on your data, your candidates' data or your interviews. Prelude's methodology is built by people, with veteran sales leaders and published research, not from customer data.

How long we keep things

Candidate information is kept for as long as the employer's role is open and for twelve months after it closes, so the employer can revisit a decision or answer a question about it, then deleted. A role closes when the employer marks it closed, or twelve months after its last activity, whichever comes first. An employer can ask us to delete a candidate sooner, and we will delete the candidate's record completely, not just hide it. There are no audio recordings; Prelude never receives audio. Account and role information is kept while the account is active and deleted within ninety days of the account closing, unless the law requires us to keep it longer.

How we protect it

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access inside Prelude is limited to the people who need it to run the service and support you. Each employer sees only its own roles and candidates. If something goes wrong and your information is exposed, we'll tell you and the affected employer promptly and plainly.

Who we share with

The employer who invited you, if you're a candidate. The service providers named above, who process data on our behalf and can't use it for anything else. Lawyers, accountants or authorities when the law requires it. A successor, if Orrin Broberg LLC is ever sold or merged, under the same promises in this policy. Nobody else, and never for money.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or receive a copy. If you're a candidate, the fastest route is through the employer, and we'll support whatever they ask. If you contact us directly, we'll respond within thirty days. We'll never treat you differently for exercising a right.

Prelude is not meant for anyone under eighteen, and we don't knowingly collect information from minors.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll post the new version here with a new date and, for customers, tell you by email before it takes effect.
