The biggest performance gap isn't between candidate A and candidate B. It's between the same person in the right environment and the wrong one. So before Prelude evaluates anyone, it learns the environment.
The idea
A rep who thrived selling a known product in a big company can be lost in a founder-led startup where nothing is written down. Same person, different outcome. That's why generic assessments miss: they measure the person and ignore the seat. Prelude measures the fit between them, and that starts with a real interview of the person who knows the seat best. You.
The story
Orrin Broberg built his first sales-hiring platform in 2007. It won an HR technology product of the year award, served national clients, and encoded expert judgment the only way that era allowed: by hand, question by question. Modern AI finally made the original idea fully possible: a system that listens, probes, and builds the hiring profile custom for every role. Prelude is that idea, rebuilt.
How we work
Prelude's methodology is built with veteran sales leaders, trainers, and hiring experts, and grounded in published research on what actually predicts sales performance. We're honest about what that means: the research supports the reasoning, and Prelude is designed to learn from real hiring outcomes over time so the evidence keeps building.
Who's behind it
Orrin Broberg started at Xerox, founded three companies, and built his first sales-hiring platform in 2007. Thirty years of hiring salespeople, and getting some of them wrong, is where Prelude comes from. He runs Prelude and answers the email himself.
Fair by design
The criteria are set with you before any candidate is seen, and every candidate gets the same questions against them. Scoring never reasons from age, sex, race, or any protected characteristic. Every conclusion cites the candidate's own words. Claims get probed, never assumed. And a person makes every hiring decision. The software informs. It doesn't decide.
Talk to us
Prelude is built by people who've carried a quota and made the hires. If you want to talk about your role, your team, or your practice, reach out. A real person replies.
